Acting President Gordon Alexander and Chief Executive Simon Wallace met yesterday with James Meager, the Associate Minister of Transport with responsibility for aviation matters.
Simon and Gordon traversed key industry matters with the Minister including:
- The general health of the commercial aviation industry.
- The development of a National Policy Statement for aviation.
- The performance of the Civil Aviation Authority, as well as the decision by the Minister not to separate the security function until further review.
- Cost recovery by Government agencies that is burdening commercial aviation operators, including the CAA Levies, Fees and Charges, Airways pricing, but also other costs such as ACC levies, immigration fees and local government charges.
- Training and development with a focus on policy settings that disadvantage the sector on the student loan and EFTS caps.
This was a positive meeting with the Minister agreeing to follow up on some of these matters.
