Reasons to join AIANZ

The strength of our industry depends on a strong, unified peak industry body.

To be an effective advocate for the aviation industry, we need your support.

As the peak body for commercial aviation in New Zealand, AIANZ is dedicated to serving the collective interests of our members as well as advancing the wider interests of the commercial aviation sector.

The extent of this advocacy depends entirely on members who fund our activities.

Overview of member benefits – why join the Aviation Industry Association?

We have been busy on behalf of the industry over the past 12 months with no shortage of policy consultations critical to the success of our industry. Policy, advocacy and lobbying remain at the heart of what we do as a member organisation and that work has returned hard fought wins.

AIANZ is making a difference and saving members time and money, while there’s no doubt our policy and advocacy in the past year has been enhanced through an effort to promote our work in media channels. Our political relationships too have gone from strength to strength – AIANZ has the ear of politicians, including with Ministers but also Opposition MPs that have shadow portfolios in aviation.

Building on our successes and ongoing efforts, we are continuously expanding the range of benefits available to our members. As we evolve and grow, so do the advantages of being part of AIANZ. We are committed to listening to your feedback and adapting our offerings to meet the ever-changing needs of our industry. Below, you’ll find an overview of the current member benefits, but this list is dynamic and growing. Your input is invaluable in shaping the future of our organisation and ensuring that we continue to provide the support and resources that matter most to you and your business in the aviation sector.

Policy, Advocacy and Lobbying

Policy and advocacy remain at the heart of what we do as a peak industry and member organisation. We have the ear of the politicians, and through a strong policy and evidence base, our role is to protect and advance the interests of our members, promote a favourable regulatory environment and foster industry growth.

Submissions

We prepare and lodge submissions in order to shine a light on relevant issues in the aviation industry. For example, in 2024 we lodged a submission to FENZ which saved members many thousands of dollars in annual levies. Policymakers take the AIANZ seriously as we present quality papers and submissions from a solid evidence base.

District and Regional Plans

The AIANZ continues to protect commercial aviation activities through our important work on District and Regional Plans. The submissions are led by NZAAA and NZHA and have significant impacts for all divisions of our membership. This advocacy work continues to show the value of commercial aviation activities for local government across New Zealand.
