The Team

As is the nature of many peak membership bodies in New Zealand, we have a small executive team with a primary focus on serving the interests of AIANZ’s members. This includes but is not limited to our policy and advocacy work, support in dealing with CAA and other state agencies, the provision of information, business capability and networking opportunities.

The executive team is supported at a governance level by the AIANZ Council who meet at least quarterly. While the Council has a largely strategic focus, the often-limited resources of the executive team, means Council will roll up their sleeves and lend a helping hand to team members when required. The Council consists of senior industry leaders who between them have many years’ experience in the aviation industry.

Our office in Wellington is staffed by Chief Executive Simon Wallace supported by our Office Administrator Stefanie Dixon and Accountant Geeta Unka.

Simon Wallace is responsible for all of AIANZ’s activities that range from our policy, advocacy and lobbying work, talking with politicians, engaging and supporting members, managing our events portfolio and maintaining financial oversight of the organisation. Simon is also the principal spokesperson for media as required.

The AIANZ has two Executive Officers (or EOs as we call them) based outside of Wellington who engage on a day-to-day basis with members and the wider aviation sector. Tony Michelle is based in Southland and supports the NZAAA members, while Richard Milner, based in Auckland supports the NZHA and UAVNZ members. Both Tony and Richard also have a wider responsibility in looking after other AIANZ members.
